French Wines Description
Age of the vines: 3/4 are very old (more than 80 years) and a 1/4 were replanted during the 1990’s. The ‘ Climat’ les Combettes is located just South of the Meursault Charmes, protected by the hamlet of Blagny to the West. These mid-hillside positions mean that the vineyards receive an extra 1/2 hour of sun each evening. ‘Les Combettes’ is nowadays classified as Premier Cru. However, the official classification committee designated it as ‘Première Cuvée’ in 1860; in this classification system it is at the same level as Chevalier Montrachet and the best parts of Batard Montrachet, which are now classified as Grand Cru.
