Founded in 1864, the House of Bourée is situated in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of Burgundy wine, at the foot of sunniest and most well known hills in the world.
Its fame resides in the quality of its fine wines, known to keep, according to a traditional method.
Louis VALLET, grand-nephew of founder, succeed Bernard BOUREE.
After co-managing the company from 2004 to 2019, Jean-Christophe (picture) took over the management once his brother Bernard retired. His son Vincent Vallet joined him in the family business.
For completing the production of its own vineyards, and for offering the largest variety possible of crus and vintages, the house buys grapes; then the wines in barrel of the Côte d’Or are acquired, as well as the achieved vinification.
The growing of the wines, which is to say their maturation, is done only in oak barrels.
THE ART OF TASTING
“We taste almost every day the wines in the barrel, in our cellars for tracking their evolution to determine the point of maturation for bottling, and to try to project the time of transformation the fruits aromas into finesse, elegance, suppleness, roundness, body and build.” says Louis Vallet.
